WHAT IS BLM?
The Black Lives Matter is a cause that supports Black individuals and allies in undoing systemic racialized violence. Black Lives Matter is a cause cognizant of the ongoing struggles of all marginalized folks and we strive to honour that in the work we do. We centre the voices of Black people as well as other people of colour and hope to lift up those who are queer, women, trans, differently abled, poor or otherwise marginalized.
Our chapter is inclusive and we work hard to make sure everyone has a voice. We are members of the community and our actions will be informed by the community.
Now is the time to shift our focus and tax dollars from policing and surveillance to community-led initiatives that nourish our communities.
We as an organization are completely funded by community contributions.
